Reconciliation Action Plan design for a leading technology brand.

We proudly collaborated with NEXTDC to create the design for their first Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan design.

NextD Reconciliation Action Plan Design Creation

A key consideration in developing any design for a Reconciliation Action Plan is understanding who the organisation is, what it does, and its commitments to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples through it's work.

Always unique

As a leader in global technology, NEXTDC’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) represents far more than a corporate obligation, it stands as a carefully considered and strategically designed framework that reflects both organisational intent and a genuine commitment to cultural responsibility. As a Reflect RAP, it signals the beginning of NEXTDC’s reconciliation journey, laying the groundwork for meaningful, long-term engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and cultures.

From the outset, the design of the RAP needed to do more than communicate information, it needed to embody NEXTDC’s commitments to reconciliation while remaining authentic to the organisation’s identity. This meant creating a visual and narrative language that aligned closely with NEXTDC’s core values, its role within the global technology landscape, and its established brand presence. The challenge was to ensure that the design did not sit separate from the organisation, but rather felt integrated, an extension of how NEXTDC operates, innovates, and connects.

Throughout the design process, there was a strong focus on translating NEXTDC’s work in digital infrastructure and connectivity into visual elements that felt contemporary and relevant. Modern design components with clean lines, structured layouts, and digital-inspired patterns were carefully balanced with a distinct First Nations design aesthetic. This approach allowed the RAP to maintain a professional, forward-looking tone while embedding cultural depth and meaning.

Always connected

Importantly, the design also drew on traditional influences, ensuring that cultural elements were not only present but respected and purposeful. These elements were not used decoratively, but intentionally and serve as visual representations of connection, knowledge sharing, and continuity. By weaving together modern digital motifs with traditional design principles, the RAP creates a visual dialogue between innovation and culture.

This balance enables NEXTDC to clearly and respectfully demonstrate its commitment to reconciliation. The design becomes a tool for storytelling, which reflects both the organisation’s technological leadership and its responsibility to contribute to a more inclusive and connected future.
